This weekend marks the FA’s official Silent Support Weekend, and we kindly ask all parents, guardians, and supporters to be part of this important initiative when attending our fixtures.
Silent Support Weekend is designed to create a calmer, more positive matchday environment for our young players. By reducing side line noise and allowing the children’s voices and decisions to take centre stage, we help them develop confidence, communication, and independence on the pitch.
What We Ask From You This Weekend
Please follow the FA’s three simple rules of Silent Support:
1. Spectators – Applause Only
We encourage you to support the players with claps and positive body language only. No shouting instructions, no calling out to individuals, and no reactions that may influence decisions on the pitch.
2. Coaches Can Talk to Players
This weekend, coaching staff will remain the only adults offering verbal guidance. This ensures consistent, clear communication and helps players focus on learning the game without mixed messages.
3. Let the Players Play
Allow the children to make their own decisions, solve problems, learn from mistakes, and express themselves. Silent side lines give them the freedom to take ownership of their game.
Why It Matters
Silent Support Weekend isn’t about taking the passion out of grassroots football, it’s simply about putting children first. The reduced noise helps:
•Build player confidence
•Improve communication within the team
•Reduce performance pressure and anxiety
•Keep matchday environments positive and enjoyable
Your support in following these simple guidelines plays a huge role in protecting the spirit of grassroots football and ensuring a fun, safe experience for all players.
Thank You
